  I retired from Greater Manchester Police in March 2014 after XX years of service. The last 16 years of my Police service was involved with ‘Traffic Policing’ primarily in the field of high speed roads and motorway policing. I hold a number of qualifications relating to the operation and legislative compliance relating to goods and passenger carrying vehicles. Having retired I set up my own company to provide vehicle operation analysis and advice for the commercial sector.

Main responsibilities in the Police included:-

• Compliance and Enforcement in the field of goods vehicle and passenger carrying vehicle operation
• Administration of Police responsibilities concerning the movement of Abnormal Loads and Special Types vehicles through the force area
• Dangerous Goods Safety Officer for GMP and the compliance of operators carrying such hazardous products
• Initial training of Roads Policing Officers and Response Officers in respect of procedures and safety concerning high speed roads and goods vehicle related issues especially concerning initial action at the scene of road traffic collisions
• Security of loads and vehicle weighing
• The investigation of Road Traffic Collisions, the analysis of tachograph data and associated driver conduct
• Point of contact for outside enquiries from members of the public requesting advice or assistance
• Force and Regional representative for a number of forums both in the enforcement sector and liaison with the commercial sector

  I was involved in the development of Roadside Deposits and Graduated Fixed Penalties with HM Court Service, DfT, DVSA and the administrative offices to assist with the practical aspects of issuing such notices to drivers at the roadside. This included the payment of roadside fines and the administrative policies to be followed when dealing with the handling of such payments. My work has involved contact with many UK based organisations and enforcement authorities including the DVSA (formerly VOSA) and the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.

Currently I am the UK Consultant for Guretruck, a leading company in Transport Management Sanctions across Europe and developers of enforcement and commercial software analysis packages. I am able to provide analysis using enforcement equivalent software for either digital, analogue or combined digital and analogue fleets. Full reports may be provided relating to company compliance, including analysis over extended periods, where the operation of the fleet may be subject to additional scrutiny in the event of enforcement action by the DVSA, Police or required by the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
